Famous men wearing glasses

Author: 6neat

Glasses are perhaps the easiest and most effective aid to improving vision. They also happen to be one thing that most children avoid wearing - not because they don't need them, but because they're afraid of the teasing and the bullying they'll be in for.
All children dread the idea of needing to wear glasses. Childhood is enough of a difficult period without the children having one more reason to add to it.
Children can be very cruel in their teasing. Those who need to wear glasses have to deal with jabs and taunts like 4-eyed freak and the like. The most insulting thing a child can be told is that he is a geek and a nerd. It isn't surprising then, that children often 'forget' to take their glasses to school with them, or 'forget' to wear them in the classroom.
For boys it goes one step ahead. Having to wear glasses is a sign that they are not guy enough. They constantly worry about being thought weak by their friends and especially worry about what they girls will think about them.
Parents should be aware of these feelings when boys don't want to wear glasses. One way of helping boys get comfortable with wearing them is to point out to them all the famous people who wear glasses, making them aware that it's not such a bad thing, and might even be cool!
There are a large number of famous men wearing glasses these days. Top of the list is Elton John who reportedly owns several thousand pairs of glasses!
Several politicians wear glasses. Franklin D. Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt used to carry a pince-nez with them to read with. Harry Truman wore glasses, as did Mahatma Gandhi whose glasses have become synonymous with him. Tony Blair wears glasses, as does the Queen of England.
Amongst other famous men wearing glasses there are writers like James Joyce who wore glasses regularly. Then there is Bill Gates who has made wearing glasses cool and not at all geeky.
Another famous man wearing glasses, and one who is extremely hot, is Johnny Depp. Other actors who wear glasses are Hugh Grant, Morgan Freeman, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
Drew Carey has made his glasses his signature style and wears them as a statement.
Several famous men wearing glasses are singers and musicians. P-Diddy wears glasses as did Ray Charles, Roy Orbinson and Stevie Wonder. John Lennon shocked the world when he started to wear glasses. Elvis Presley too wore glasses.
And this list of famous men wearing glasses can go on and on and can be an excellent way of encouraging young boys to wear glasses. And if they don't recognise any famous name, remind them that Harry Potter also wears glasses!
