The effects of wearing glasses

Author: 6neat

Glasses have been around for several centuries now. From smooth glass spheres to glass bowls of water, a lot of things have been used to magnify objects. Over the years, glass has changed form and as techniques were developed and became more refined, the shape changed from spheres to flat lenses.
Today a lot of people wear glasses. Apart from being highly functional and practical, glasses are also being used as a fashion accessory.
People are more aware of eye care and how to take care of them. If there are persistent and constant headaches along with eye strain and some difficulty in vision it is advisable to visit the doctor to get the eyes checked. Doing so will help you get the proper prescription for glasses which will help you see better.
However when getting glasses, one has to be aware of the effects of wearing glasses. These effects are not anything serious and yet they can make for some discomfort.
One of the first effects of wearing glasses is slight headaches and maybe dizziness the first few days of wearing them. This is because the eyes are adjusting to a new way of focussing images and this can lead to some strain in the beginning. However this is resolved on its own in a few days. If not, visit the doctor to check the prescription.
Another effect of wearing glasses can be discomfort around the nose and ears because of the frames, even if today they are light and thin. The wearer gets used to this in some time. If the frame continues to be a bother it's probably too tight and should be fixed to be a right fit.
More effects of wearing glasses involve a changing of depth perception. This is why so many new wearers stumble around. Again this resolves itself in a day or so. Also people wearing glasses might feel that their eyesight has weakened because of wearing glasses. This is because when they take the glasses off they can't see as they could earlier. This is not eyes becoming worse, its just that the eyes have become used to seeing better and without glasses feel a strain. This can happen with wrong prescription glasses too where the eyes are straining more to see.
There is also the increased responsibility that is part of the effects of wearing glasses. The wearer has to keep them carefully so that they don't break or get sat/stepped on, they have to be cleaned using warm water and soap and wiped with soft cloth so that they don't get scratched. And most importantly, remember to wear them!
